CONSTRUCTION WORKER II - Santa Barbara, CA
The Towbes Group, Inc., a premier property management company with over 60 years in the Central Coast, seeks a full-time experienced Construction Worker to work in the Construction Department on day-to-day construction projects in Santa Barbara.
Job Role:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled construction tasks, such as carpentry, painting, plastering, and framing, on the company’s construction projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent work experience on a job site
- Two years of construction trade experience or any combination of training, education, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, practices, tools, and equipment used in the construction trades required for this particular job by the company; for example, carpentry, plumbing, concrete work, painting, plumbing, laborer management, and construction equipment and vehicle operation
- Ability to work with limited supervision; nature of work is such that it is performed on own responsible after assignment with some choice of method. “Bi-lingual is a Plus”
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License. Ability to perform and assist with the construction duties listed above
- Will be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds of materials, equipment, or supplies at least 1/3 of the workday
- Will be exposed to occasional loud noises
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, climb, reach above shoulders, climb, and walk on at least an hourly frequency or otherwise safely navigate around worksites exposed to moving objects, noise, elements, uneven terrain, and some hazardous conditions
- Will be working on inside and outside sites with exposure to uneven terrain, changes in temperature, wetness, rain, noise, slippery surfaces, moving objects, dust, electrical circuits, odors, and possible allergenic chemicals and chemical irritants.
Essential Duties and Areas of Accountability:
- Framing, carpentry, finish carpentry, concrete finishing, painting, building block walls, plastering, plumbing, equipment and vehicle operation, laborer management, cleanup (sweeping, hauling, cleaning up debris, etc.), digging ditches
- Ensures that construction is completed according to the plans and specifications
- Follows established construction methods & procedures; refers exceptions to superintendent
- Daily communication with supervisor
- Limited communication with the department head is required
- Limited communication with subcontractors and vendors
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of construction techniques using hand tools and power tools encompassing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, finish carpentry, touch-up painting, light drywall repair and forklift, water truck, and backhoe operation.
Requirements:
- The position is full-time, Monday-Friday; however, must be flexible and available to work weekends, if needed
- A clean DMV record and proof of vehicle insurance
- Satisfactory background check is required.

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $25.39 - $38.07
